| What
is T ·A ·P ? |
|
| |
T·A·P
is a new merger of two well-recognized technologies: borate
pesticide and highly energy-efficient, all-natural cellulose
insulation. PMPs have had great success in "capping"
customers attics, because T·A·P can be applied
directly over existing attic insulation of any type to upgrade
the thermal performance of the whole building. T·A·P
is the first and only product available to offer the energy-saving
benefits of STABILIZED Thermal performance, sound-absorbing
Acoustical qualities, and Pest management. In addition to the
outstanding benefits of standard cellulose insulation, T·A·P
provides protection against common pests such as cockroaches,
ants, and termites. EPA

| Why
should I be interested?
Whats insulation got to do with
me? |
|
| |
Actually,
T·A·P was developed with PMPs in mind, as
a way to keep technicians busy in the off-season when insects
are not as active, and lay-offs threaten. T·A·P
is an EPA-labeled pesticide, controlling such pests as ants,
silverfish, beetles, roaches, and termites. In many states,
T·A·P may be installed only by a certified PMP
(or under PMPs supervision). Attic-capping is easy to
learn, start-up cost is low, profit margin is high, employee
retention is improved, and virtually 100% of your customers
are prospects. |

|
|
| How
do I sell T·A·P to existing
customers? |
|
| |
With
current energy costs, virtually all homes are under-insulated
according to the US Department of Energys spring 2001
recommendation. A great time to inspect a home for insulation
needs is during the annual re-inspection with quick checks of
the attic and crawlspace. Since virtually all homes need more
insulation, a few measurements, reviewing a checklist, and writing
a proposal can lead to great fall and winter revenue. Youll
be doing the owner a real service when you show how the addition
of T·A·P can pay for itself (often in less than
two years) and then keep on paying in reduced energy consumption
for the life of the structure. |

| What
about new homes and commercial buildings? |
|
| |
If
you are performing ground pre-treatments, you are already calling
on general contractors. Now you have a unique product to sell
them which will add lasting value to the building. T·A·P
furnishes the greatest benefit to the building owner when it
is applied during construction. T·A·P can provide
a Thermal, Acoustical, Pest-control envelope encompassing the
attic, wall cavities, between floors, and in the crawlspace
(see picture)places
where pests can hide and nest, and where they are extremely
difficult to locate and treat. And if you have installed T·A·P
pest-control insulation, you can leave a T·A·P
hanger in the house, explaining the added value, and offering
your continuing pest-management services. Its a good fit
for commercial buildings as well: restaurants, hospitals, retirement
centers, hotels anywhere that the best insulation and
pest control are wanted. |

Whats
the Active Ingredient?
How long does its effect last? |
|
| |
T·A·P
is acceptable for use around humans and their pets. The active
ingredient is pure boric acid, a naturally-occurring mineral
found in many consumer products, even foods and cosmetics. T·A·Ps
effect begins only after insect contact. All-natural T·A·P
cellulose insulation is environmentally-friendly. In addition
to the energy it saves, 85% of the product is recycled newsprint
which otherwise would be dumped into our landfills. T·A·P
is a permanent part of total pest management for the envelope
of homes and other buildings, and is not intended to replace
other pest-control measures. "Life
depends on Boric Acid." |

|
| How
will I be supported? |
|
| |
The
T·A·P Training Manual is available on CD-ROM and
in hard-copy to all qualified PMPs. The manual is a comprehensive
support tool which lays out for you and your employees the fine
points of being a T·A·P PMP applicator. It includes
detailed product information, applicable specifications, sales
aids, equipment and supplies description/support, sample checklists
and forms, and the step-by-step installation guide. Training
and marketing videos are available, as well as yard signs, and
presentation materials. Team leaders are available on-location
to train your employees in presentation and installation. Our
database will include you as a T·A·P certified
installer. Your name will be furnished when local consumers
and builders request the location of the nearest T·A·P
installer. T·A·P has assembled the key leaders
from pest management and the insulation industries to provide
a network of support including product manufacturing, chemical
technical issues, code and government regulation, installation
equipment, peripheral supplies, and marketing. |

Can
I afford it?
How expensive is the investment? |
|
| |
The
investment is modest. You can typically pay for the equipment
with your first 5-10 jobs. There are also leasing options or
insulation contractor linking opportunities. |
